August 28th will see the release of the 8th Super Furry Animals album, Hey Venus, and their first album to come via Rough Trade Records. Featuring 11 tracks of classic SFA, Hey Venus is produced by David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), mixed by Chris Shaw and SFA and will be available on UK import CD and LP configurations. The album will be prefaced by the single 'Show Your Hand', which is currently available exclusively as a digital download (iTunes Canada). The track is classic SFA with a dose of soul, a pinch of furry experimentalism and a huge dollop of sublime pop mixed into one summer classic and will be released as a CD Single and 7” vinyl. Since the release of their last album, 'Love Kraft' in 2005, SFA have been very busy changing record labels, working on individual projects (Candylion / Acid Casuals / Y Peth / Neon Neon / Trojan compilation) embarking on orchestral work with renowned British composer Charles Hazelwood and writing and recording 'Hey Venus!' as well as album #9 (recording is imminent). For the cover artwork, the band commissioned cult Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami, who was given free reign over the look and feel of the record, having never even heard of, seen or spoken to the band -he was
left to his own devises.

April 21 street date. Since 2007's 'Hey Venus', SUPER FURRY ANIMALS have been keeping busy with their various side projects, including Daf and Guto's acclaimed work as part of The Peth, Cian's forthcoming Acid Casuals release, and of course
Gruff's Mercury nominated work with Neon Neon. The band premiered the new album via a web telecasted performance from their rehersal space in Cardiff on March 16th. Super Furry Animals are never ones to stay still creatively, and with Dark Days/ Light Years they have decided to document the process on 4 individual hand held cameras. But this will be no ordinary 'the making of the album' story; it's a series of Warhol like observations, of a band putting the finishing touches to songs, a
celebration of the banal nature of the mixing process. SFA have numerous tricks up their sleeves which will be revealed closer to release date. Double vinyl edition features a complimentary MP3 download coupon that also includes a live show.

Please note: release has been postponed to January 18. Rings Around the World, an album that recaptured the cohesive, experimental feel of the Super Furry Animals Guerrilla but more song-driven and sonically expansive. The first single was a good indication of what was to come: “Juxtapozed With U”, released in July 2001, and made it to the charts (#14). The record following this success a few months later was the first album by any artist to be simultaneously released on both audio and video. The eclectic record incorporated prog, punk, techno, pop and death metal. Different musicians added their talents to this record, including Paul McCartney and John Cale. The overall result is a timeless masterpiece, layered and textured, and one of the finest releases of 2002. The Rings Around the World package contains lots of extras: a one-sided 7” single with locked groove of a sample of “All The Shit U Do”, 4 page booklet with lyrics and credits, and inside-outplay of side three. This release is available as a limited edition of 1.500 individually numbered copies on coloured (pink & purple mixed) vinyl.
