November 8 street date. Beggars Arkive present the 30th anniversary expanded edition of The Charlatans' third album, "Up To Our Hips". The set features the original album, plus 10 bonus tracks (all curated by Tim Burgess), including two BBC live session songs recorded for the Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley Show, alongside B-sides, alternate mixes, and outtakes. This special package has brand new reimagined artwork by Nik Void. Originally released in 1994 on Beggars Banquet, "Up To Our Hips" marked a new direction for the band. It leaned away from the lighter pop songs of their previous two albums with its darker, heavier and organ led sound. This was due in part by the legal case that keys player Rob Collins was embroiled in, as he was accused of acting as a getaway driver in an armed robbery. Charges (and a lengthy sentence) were eventually dropped in court, but the band feared Rob would be sent to prison for years - many of the lyrics on the album reflect the stress of the band at the time. Limited edition petrol blue bio-vinyl.
