Trade. Originally released by the band in 2008, the EP collection features 6 tracks produced by Jake Bercovici with mixing and mastering by former Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist, John Frusciante. The EP captures the band's sonic textures and playful dynamism Warpaint is notorious for creating live. January 21 street date. Rough Trade will start 2014 with the release of the new self-titled album from Warpaint, the follow-up to
their debut longplayer, "The Fool". To say that this new offering is "highly anticipated" is an understatement, considering the reception that their debut received when it was released at the end of 2010, and the excitement at their recent sold-out shows in New York, LA and the UK. Warpaint, recorded and mixed by Flood, aside from two songs that were mixed by Nigel Godrich. The album was conceived after some truly inspirational writing and recording sessions that took place in The Joshua Tree late last year. The band was joined there by visionary director Chris Cunningham, who has partnered with them for many of the album visuals including the cover. He spent two years filming and photographing the band as they made new music. Warpaint is a well-oiled machine. They weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals and driving post punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between psychedelia and intimacy. Both live and on record, Warpaint sound like they’re channeling something truly otherworldly, and mystical. They are also a band that truly enjoys playing together. Emily and Theresa have been friends since they were kids, and the bond that the four of them have is truly special. The eponymous album is available as a gatefold 2 LP with printed inner sleeve and MP3 coupon on limited edition yellow vinyl for initial pressing with 4th side etched. June 12 street date. RECORD STORE DAY release. On the completion of the recording of "The Fool", Andrew Weatherall was given access to the album's master tapes to work on mixes for the finished record. The track "Baby", along with Warpaint's iconic single "Undertow", were both mixed by the Guv'nor and appeared on the finished album that was released in 2010. For the first time ever, this Record Store Day edition brings together all the mixes Weatherall created while working on the project, including a never released before, finished version of "Jubilee". "I remember that one of the main reasons why we wanted Andrew Weatherall to mix the Warpaint album was because we loved his brilliant work on the Primal Scream remix of "Higher Than The Sun". I know that we discussed this particular track with Emily and she knew it of course and also loved it. I think it was a key reason they agreed to let Andrew do the mix" - Geoff Travis - Rough Trade Records.
