Featured highly streamed Blood Cultures song, "Set It On Fire", with 6 MM streams, 2 MM views on YouTube. Blood Cultures is an anonymous experimental indie-pop project based out of Brooklyn. Blood Cultures' genre-bending sound is often characterized as psych pop, electro-pop, and bedroom pop.
March 15 street date. Tyranny and Mutation is the second studio album by American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult, released on February 11, 1973, by Columbia Records. The record was produced by Murray Krugman and Sandy Pearlman. On May 12, 1973, the album peaked at number 122 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was recorded at the Columbia Studios in New York City in late 1972. The song "Baby Ice Dog" features lyrics by singer/poet Patti Smith (who was keyboardist Allen Lanier's girlfriend at the time), who would make several lyrical contributions to the band's repertoire during its career. The song "The Red and the Black", with lyrics referencing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is a renamed, re-recorded version of "I'm on the Lamb but I Ain't No Sheep" from the debut album of the same name. The song was later covered by the Minutemen and Band of Susans. Tyranny and Mutation is available on black vinyl.
April 5 street date. After releasing three studio albums and lots of touring, Blue Öyster Cult released their first live album On Your Feet or on Your Knees in 1975. The album is a collection of 12 live recordings from performances that took place in the United States in 1974. It includes three songs from each of their first three albums, an original instrumental track, and two covers: “I Ain’t Got You” (Billy Boy Arnold, The Yardbirds) and “Born to Be Wild” (Steppenwolf). It was their first gold record in the US, which put the band forever on the map as one of the essential rock live bands.
